I am in the book of Joshua in my daily Bible reading. Joshua was Israel's great military leader. Under him, he led the Israelis into the land of Canaan. He was fearless, single-minded in his mission, and fully trusted in the Lord.

As a servant of Moses, Joshua saw many things that secured his faith in God. He was one of the twelve spies, and with Caleb, he brought back a good report, convinced that since God was with them, they could claim their inheritance. Even then, Joshua’s confidence rested not in Israel’s strength but in the Lord’s promise.

Because of this, Joshua watched all of his generation die in the wilderness, everyone except Caleb and himself. By the time Moses died and God chose Joshua to succeed him, he and Caleb were 20 years older than the oldest living Israelite. Into this moment God spoke these words of assurance:

"No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them." (Joshua 1:5-6 ESV).

This was Joshua's mission. And he knew that when God made a promise, it was as good as done. Can you imagine the confidence this gave him? No enemy could stand against him, not because Joshua was mighty, but because the Lord Almighty was with him.

If God said to march around Jericho for six days and shout on the seventh, Joshua didn’t hesitate. Why? Because the victory was already secured by God’s power, not Israel’s might. Forty years earlier, Joshua had believed that his God was greater than the giants, and now he lived it out before all Israel.

So let me ask you: What could you do if you truly believed God was with you wherever you set your foot? What giants in your life would you face with courage? What walls would you see come tumbling down?

This is the promise King Jesus gives us. We are like Joshua, not because we fight earthly battles, but because in the spiritual struggles of life we never stand alone. He is with us. He is our pillar of cloud by day and our pillar of fire by night. No problem, no challenge, no trial is beyond His reach.

Joshua’s peers saw only the enemy, and the majority gave in to fear. But Joshua and Caleb fixed their eyes on God and trusted Him when everyone else turned back. Their faith reminds us that the majority is not always right, especially when it counsels against trusting God. It is always better to stand with King Jesus, even if it means standing apart from the crowd.

So where will you set your eyes today? On the fears that surround you, or on the Savior who has already secured the victory? Jesus has overcome every enemy, and one day even death itself will be cast into the lake of fire, never to trouble His people again.

If we believed with Joshua’s faith that the Lord is with us wherever we go, fear would lose its grip. We could face anything the enemy throws our way with the unshakable confidence that in Christ, the victory is already secure.

Not by our power.

Not by our strategy.

Not by our will.

But because King Jesus is with us, wherever we go.

What about you? Where do you sense God calling you to trust Him when others give in to fear? Share your challenges in the comments so we can pray together for the courage to face them with the faith of Joshua, trusting that King Jesus is with us wherever we go.
