Can we give God something costly while refusing to change the way we treat someone?

Micah brings that question into a world where powerful people take homes and fields, leaders profit from their positions, and religious assurances make wrongdoing feel safe.

The offerings grow larger. Thousands of rams. Rivers of oil. Could something extravagant make everything right?

God has already shown His people what is good. In Micah, chapter six, verse eight, He calls them “to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God”.

Those words reach beyond the moment of worship. They reach into the marketplace, the decisions of leaders, and the security of a neighbor’s home.

Religious expense cannot purchase permission to keep harming someone.

We may recognize that temptation in ourselves. It can feel easier to offer something impressive than to surrender an unfair advantage or receive correction.

But Micah also directs us toward the God who delights in steadfast love. We can acknowledge our wrong, seek to repair the harm, and turn toward His mercy.

Where might walking humbly with God change the way we use our influence today?
